The Educators at MELCC implement a play based and emergent curriculum, focusing on children’s interests, strengths and needs as individuals and in groups. The children are provided with the opportunities to engage in and extend on their learning through different forms of play including, physical, creative, social and discovery. We are guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Frameworks (VEYLDF) and our philosophy is embedded throughout our curriculum and practices. Their play is documented through reflective journals, learning stories and project work.

Our Educators have their own way of displaying and communicating the curriculum to families. A reflection journal is emailed to families on a fortnightly basis which details the learning that has occurred in each rooms.  Each child has a portfolio that contains a variety of learning stories, both individual and group, art work and family input.

We value that families are the first and most important educator in their child’s life. Educators work in partnership with families to provide a curriculum that is holistic and gives both children and families a sense of belonging to the MELCC community.
